Bringing Your Technology to Japan

COR.energy micro-CHP units in four colours

THE PROBLEM

The problem we solve

You have equipment with a solid European reference list. Japanese enquiries arrive occasionally. But you have no way to judge whether the interest is real, whether your machine will perform on Japanese fuel, or which of the companies approaching you is a partner worth having.

Setting up a Japanese subsidiary to find out is expensive. Appointing the first distributor who asks is worse.

We offer a staged alternative. Manufacturers we have supported into the Japanese market include Kohlbach, Floyd Bioenergy and COR.energy.

STAGE 1

Technical assessment for Japanese conditions

Before anything is presented to the market, we establish what would actually happen if your equipment ran in Japan.

  • Recalculation of heat and mass balances against Japanese fuel properties
  • Analysis of the specific fuel a Japanese project would supply — moisture, particle size, bark content, ash composition, ash melting behaviour
  • Identification of clinker, fouling and fire risks specific to Japanese fuels
  • Review of applicable Japanese regulation: boiler and pressure vessel rules, electrical codes, fire safety, grid interconnection
  • Assessment of required design modifications and their approximate cost
  • Where warranted, inspection of your operating plants to see fuel, staffing and real availability rather than catalogue figures

Deliverable: a written technical report stating whether, and under what modifications, the technology suits the Japanese market. If the answer is no, you will be told so — that is the value of asking an engineer with nothing to sell.

STAGE 2

Presenting the technology in Japan

Once a technology has passed assessment, we present it to the Japanese market.

EXHIBITIONS

BIOMASS EXPO, SMART ENERGY WEEK

We exhibit at BIOMASS EXPO, part of SMART ENERGY WEEK — one of Japan’s principal renewable energy trade shows, organised by RX Japan and held three times a year in Tokyo and Osaka.

  • Presentation at our own stand. We introduce partner technologies at our booth, letting you test Japanese demand without the cost of your own stand or a local entity.
  • Support for your own stand. Planning, technical materials in Japanese, on-stand technical explanation, and follow-up on the enquiries that result.
  • Technical materials in Japanese. Specification sheets and explanatory material written by engineers, not translators — using the terminology Japanese buyers and lenders expect.

STAGE 3

Introduction to a vetted Japanese distributor

We introduce Japanese distributors and project developers only for technologies we have assessed.

The order is deliberate. A Japanese company approached by an unknown overseas manufacturer has no way to price the technical risk. When the introduction comes with an assessment by a Professional Engineer who is bound by statutory confidentiality and has no stake in the sale, that risk becomes something both sides can discuss.

  • Identification of distributor candidates suited to the technology and its target segment
  • Technical briefing of the candidate, at the level their engineers need
  • Continuing technical support to both parties after the introduction

We do not act as a sales agent, and we do not take a position on either side of the eventual commercial relationship. Our role stays technical.

HOW TO START

How to start

Send us an outline of your technology and your reference plants. The first consultation is free of charge, and anything you send is protected under Article 45 of the Professional Engineer Act from the moment it reaches us.

If a full assessment is warranted, we will quote for it. Both one-off assignments and continuing retainers are available.
